About Me

In addition to being a wife, a mom to the most amazing daughter ever, and owning my own practice specializing in Precision Neuromuscular Therapy… I am extremely passionate about photography and want to learn everything I possibly can about the subject.

Photography started out as a hobby for me when my daughter was born in 2001, but over the years I often wondered if it can become more. Some questions I’ve asked myself include, but are not limited to… How does one supplement income with photography? Should I stick with a particular subject (i.e. nature, landscapes, people, etc.) or just continue shooting what I have been, which includes a little bit of anything and everything? Lastly but not least, am I good enough to become successful with it?

Regardless of the answers–positive and/or negative–life is a journey and I am ready to see where the photography route takes me, even if that means I don’t make a single red cent. As stated earlier, I am very passionate about this art form and no dollar value can really replace the enjoyment I get from it!

With that said, I hope you will enjoy what I post and please feel free to share your comments, suggestions, and words of wisdom.

Equipment I use is as follows:

CAMERAS:Β Canon 5D Mark II, Canon EOS Digital 40D, Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi, and a Canon PowerShot SD950 IS Digital Elph.

LENSES:Β  Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM, Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM, Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM Auto Focus, Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM, and a Sigma 18-50mm f/3.5-5.6 DC

  1. I enjoy what you post both your photographs and your thoughts about them

  2. Nichole, if you are passionate about photography then you are holding something very, very precious in the palm of your hand >>> do not let go of it! To me, photography is the more than perfect means of creativity, of self-expression, and I treasure it.

I don’t go along with you about earning money from photography – even though I may be about to lose my job! Earning money is not what I’m about; (hopefully) creating beautiful images is where I’m at.

Thank you for subscribing to my blog – unfortunately I cannot return the compliment because the volume of emails I’m receive is now prohibitive. However, keep in touch, and get in touch any time!

  5. Photography is my sole connection with “creativity”. Give it all you have. It’s great fun whether you make money or stay a hobbyist.

  15. Would you consider placing your copyright lower in the frame? I’d like to enjoy your images without obstruction.

    • I placed the watermark on the bottom via SmugMug, but I’m not sure if that will change what I’ve already posted in WordPress; however, I do know it will be on the bottom from this point forward. I hope that works better!

I originally placed it there so it would be harder for people to steal my images, so I’ll just keep my eye on it for now. πŸ™‚

      • Thank you,but I’d hate to think I was the cause if someone did steal one of your images. How would you keep an eye on it? Isn’t there a way to prevent copy-and-paste? Some safeguard that wordpress could initiate if they don’t have it already? I think flickr has something like that.

      • The last time I looked, WordPress did not have that option available, which is why I started posting directly from my SmugMug account. There they are completely protected. I use TinEye every now and then to see if there are any duplicates of my images on the web. πŸ™‚

  16. I went through your galleries on smugmug (where I keep mine) and noticed your daughter was a swimmer. Does she do it year round or summer league? She is between my two who were born in 2000 and 2002.

    • She did year-round for two-years and recently stopped in March of this year. She also joined the summer team last year, which ended up burning her out to a point where she wanted to quit. It was supposed to be “fun”, but ended up being hard-core competitive.

      • We treat summer league as fun. It needs to be because the majority of the swimmers are not year-round.

It is certainly easy for kids to burn out in year-round and I’ve already seen a number of stud 10-year olds quit at 11. It is hard for a child to keep swimming in perspective and I’ve seen a lot of parents that lost perspective, as well. I hope your daughter rediscovers a love for swimming because it’s hard for me to see a better sport for developing young bodies.

      • I couldn’t agree more and was honestly a little disappointed that it turned out the way it did; not with my daughter’s decision though… I was burned out just as much, if not more. It goes without saying that sports just aren’t like they used to be when I was a kid!

I hope she starts back up again in the near future because I also feel that it’s a great way to develop young bodies, but if not, I will support her decision. She’s in martial artsβ€”Ninjutsuβ€”right now, LOVES it, and is working towards her black-belt. πŸ™‚

  17. Hi, thanks for ‘liking’ my post! I’ve been looking through some of your pictures and they’re very good. You’ve clearly got a gift for this, so keep it up! God bless! πŸ™‚

  19. Hi there! Thanks for checking out my blog, nice to know there is a fellow Ohioian checking out my blog. I got back from my adventure on 8 August. Right now, I am selling my photography on two sites. Hoping to have my own website sooner rather than later. You can check out some of the images that I am selling at; http://4-james-thomas.artistwebsites.com. Hope you and your family have a nice, safe, long weekend.
I am looking to add a new camera, though rightw now, I am debating whether to buy one now, or save up, and get a slightly better one than I could right now, as well as saving for another trip sooner than the first time it took me to go on a trip to Europe which is 33 years.
Looking into buying Lightroom 4 as well.
