I went to Krohn Conservatory—one of my favorite places to take pictures—with a friend this past Tuesday to catch up and create images using my new Christmas gift, which happens to be a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lens. Yay!
After having taken some time off from photography period, I found it a little challenging using a macro for the first time—I’m sure I’ll get a hang of it though.
With these images, I intentionally blurred them in an attempt to create more of an abstract look and feel.

I like these photos. Macro was the beginning for me of discovering that there was astonishing beauty right under my nose. With that lens, I never had to go farther than a few steps from my front door to find subjects worth hours.

Thank you! I’m looking forward to seeing things differently just by walking out my front door. 🙂

I particularly like the bokeh in your first photo. It helps to make the in focus area “pop”.
